Evan Michael Gering is from Southern California where he is now working in the film industry. Evan received a BA in Cinematic Arts and Technology with summa cum laude while employed as a Service Desk Technician at his university. While in school and post-graduation, he has worked on feature films, shorts, commercials, documentaries, and music videos.
Evan is drawn to projects that aim to tell stories that are not often shared. He revels in employing classical techniques inspired by cinema, photography and other artwork. Evan utilizes experimental tactics to create a unique feeling and immersive sense to his work.
He started his career volunteering as a teenager at the Motion Picture Television Fund's closed circuit television station, Channel 22. Evan filled many roles and learned a wide set of skills. He worked as a camera assistant and operator, an assistant editor and editor, and production assistant. Evan worked with residents, who worked in the film industry at some capacity for a minimum of 25 years, and current working industry professionals on numerous projects.
Evan's passion for filmmaking grew from summers at Channel 22 to his schooling. He served as VP of Media for his senior class in high school in the Virtual Enterprise International competition. For this position, he created the marketing strategy, materials (including an award winning commercial), and developed the website for their virtual company.
He committed to a university that prides themselves in putting a camera in the hands of students early on, which was one primary reason for Evan to attend. His first narrative project had a scope that went beyond the means of what could be accomplished in the allotted classroom time. He and his team were determined to create the best project they could do at the time. Evan took this sensibility to go above and beyond the assignment requirements throughout his education; always striving to create the best project possible.
